project name: TEATRO GIUSEPPE VERDI
city: Pollenza
province: MC
year: 2000
description:
The Pollenza Theater, located next to Liberty Square and designed by Aleandri in 1873, is characterized by its irregular distribution with local accesses that extend at an angle to the architectural environments that are used by the public (stalls, boxes, and gallery) and the stage. Access to the theater is from a vaulted porch in the form of a cross consistin on the ground floor of five round-headed arches supported by thick pillars and on the upper floor, of five windows in line with the arches. The first and second levels have two rows of boxes (14 boxes in the first and 15 in the second) arranged in a “horseshoe” around the audience; the top floor, above the stage ends in a gallery overlooking the room below. The roof of the theater is a wooden slab that rests on the original trusses, also original. The hall is decorated with a camorcanna false ceiling lavishly painted and adorned. The project aimed to define the murals and installations, finishing works and interior furnishings and accessories necessary for the completion and activation of the municipal theater of Pollenza. To preserve the historic and artistic value of the property and respecting its architectural features, the only interventions implemented would not alter the appearance and architectural harmony of the theater and the request to waive the requirements of the Decree that were objectively impossible to meet.
